Turning One: Isn't Too Shabby!

Annabel's 1st birthday party was a really enjoyable day.  The weather was perfect, with a down pour right after we quickly cleaned up.  Most of our family was able to attend; it was so nice to be able to celebrate with family.  To prepare, Annabel took a rare nap from 12-1:45, awaking just in time for her 2 o'clock party.  We enjoyed a late lunch and she soaked up the attention at the head of the table.

The banner was made out of my mom's scrap fabric and hemp string.  I hired my dad as the main decorator and we gathered items from the around the house. 

My mom was the main sous chef.  We all pitched in making chicken salad, nutella and raspberry jelly, and cucumber tea sandwiches.  We also had caprese salad, fruit salad, and Arnold Palmers for a drink.

We were trying to take a family photo and Annabel kept tapping me on the head and laughing.  She was having a ball!

June Dairy Breakfast

When in Wisconsin, do as the Wisconsinites.  Well, we are ex-Wisconsinites so it isn't too difficult.  The June Dairy Breakfast was at the Kragness family farm outside of Colfax.  We have know all of the Kragness clan for many years from church and school.  It was a fun day and a chance for Annabel to see her first cow, chicken, goat, horse, and llama.

We enjoyed fresh made waffles with multiple syrup choices and whipped cream, sausage, milk, and pudding.  We also had fresh squeaky cheese curds as we waited in line.  They also offered ice cream and fried curds.

Hay ride.  It is funny how even babies will hang on when it starts moving.  Protective instinct, I guess.

Annabel was really interested in the baby chicks and the chicken.  She has a chicken toy that is about the size of a full-size chicken, so I think she thought it was neat to see one just like her toy.

Grandma June, Eric's mom, enjoyed the beautiful day on the farm with us too.  Thank you, Kragness family, for sharing your farm with us!
