Door County Vacation

As part of our trip to Wisconsin, we thought a fun addition would be renting a cabin in Door County for a week with my parents and Chelsea and Brandon. Annabel loved the cabin and talked about it for awhile afterwards, even after we had made it back to Canada.  She had started watching Thomas for the first time at the cabin, so after we got home she wanted to watch it, so she started putting on her shoes and said "we go to the cabin."  We stayed in Bailey's Harbor so the marshy harbor was the view from the dock across the road.  We enjoyed a boat tour of lighthouses, ate some wonderful meals such as wood-fired pizza at the Wild Tomato, shopped, and rode bikes through Peninsula State Park.  We also, at Annabel's request, stopped at every "pay" ground in the county!!  At the end of the day she would say, "find payground tomorrow."

The waters of Lake Michigan are not the warmest, even in August. Grandma's plan was to take Annabel wading, but somehow Annabel lost her footing, Grandma tried to go to help her up, lost her footing herself and fell over.  Grandpa was watching from the side and couldn't believe the commotion occurring in less than a foot of water.  He ran into the water to assist.....with his shoes and socks on!! I'm just giggling as I type this, as my dad tells the story so well.  Eric and I had gone to the snack shop and missed the entire thing.  We came back to Annabel and Grandma soaked and both laughing hysterically.

At a petting zoo called The Farm,  Annabel fed this goat like she had done it a million times before.  She just held on very tight and the goat went to town, jerking her little arms up and down.  It was so neat to watch.

When Annabel spotted a horse at The Farm, she said, "there is a little neigh over there."

Our food was delivered to us on a train.

We spent a lot of time out on this dock.  Eric and my dad had coffee there in the mornings and we enjoyed afternoon reading time and happy hours.
